Embracing Equity: Reflecting on International Women’s Day 2023 Theme
As we approach International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023, two prominent themes emerge: “Embrace equity”, the official IWD theme, and “Cracking the Code” the theme set by the United Nations (UN).
Both themes aim to advance gender equity, and achieving this goal is not a one-size-fits-all approach. While “Embrace Equity” takes a more holistic approach to addressing gender inequality, “Cracking the Code” focuses on a specific area where women are underrepresented.
Here at Keece, we actively promote equity and inclusivity in all areas of life and encourage females from the community to pursue trades to help close the gender gap. It is what both themes are about. In our male-dominated industry, we have taken significant steps by acknowledging the existence of systemic barriers. We recognize the need to take concrete action to support more women in trades.
Regardless of your allegiance to either organization, we recognize and acknowledge both themes as equally important. They play a crucial role in creating an inclusive environment that empowers all individuals to contribute to their full potential.
