Project brief: "Turn dark and gloomy, into functional and roomy"

  • Project brief: “Turn dark and gloomy, into functional and roomy”

Taking a little poetic license; the tender brief read: “Construct a modern office environment in the services plant room/floor of 10 Eagle Street Brisbane”. And that’s just what they did. Despite being a challenging project for all involved, the @Schiavello Construction team built it, engaging our Keece QLD commercial electrical team to assist with electrical demolition, and subsequent commercial lighting, power, and data fitout services.

Moreover, only those who’ve walked through a plant room/floor can appreciate this phenomenal transformation! Over a project timeline of just five months, the entire construction team completed what few could envisage.

From what was effectively squandered floor space, the creative visionaries at Cameron & Co Architecture (who were also the ultimate tenants we understand), however, saw an opportunity for transformation.

By designing the space to fit in with the existing plant room equipment (see kitchen photo below) they utilised all “free” floor space to transform the area into this fabulous free-flowing vibrant modern office environment.

The end result? A phenomenal transformation and utilisation of space.

Ceiling and walls were constructed into the plant room

In order to compliment the build – the plant room got a lick and polish as well

An amazing creation of functional space

Over the past 15 years, we’ve worked on many projects involving the electrical demolition of sites before construction or refurbishment. However, this project had some very unique requirements due to significant electrical infrastructure services needing to be maintained and ongoing within the services/facilities room.

While some of these services were simply relocated, others needed more intricate redundancy implemented before changing paths or removing the services altogether.

Furthermore, for many more examples of the retail, office, warehousing, and commercial fit-outs completed by Keece, check our pages dedicated lighting, and structured cabling pages or read more from our blog below.
